This press release provides the data for the HDB resale and rental market in 1st Quarter 2020.

HDB Resale Market

2          The Resale Price Index (RPI) for 1st Quarter 2020 is 131.5, unchanged from the RPI in 4th Quarter 2019 (see Annex A).  

3          Resale transactions fell by 7.0%, from 6,339 cases in 4th Quarter 2019 to 5,893 cases in 1st Quarter 2020 (see Annex B). Compared to 1st Quarter 2019, resale transactions in 1st Quarter 2020 were 21.9% higher.

4          The median resale prices in the various towns in 1st Quarter 2020 are tabulated in Annex C.

HDB Rental Market

5          The median rents in the various towns in 1st Quarter 2020 are tabulated in Annex D.

6          The number of approved applications to rent out HDB flats fell by 4.0%, from 12,079 cases in 4th Quarter 2019 to 11,591 cases in 1st Quarter 2020 (see Annex E). Compared to 1st Quarter 2019, the number of approved applications in 1st Quarter 2020 was 1.6% lower. As at the end of 1st Quarter 2020, there were 57,652 HDB flats rented out, an increase of 0.7% over the previous quarter (57,224 units).

7          With the extension to the circuit breaker period until 1 June 2020, the sales launch scheduled in May 2020 will be deferred until further notice.
